About our Holiday Club
Smiles of Quorn Ltd is a multi-award-winning, independent, family-run childcare provider, fully insured and Ofsted registered to offer both wraparound care and holiday clubs. We were founded to meet the growing demand from working parents for a childcare setting that’s not only safe and reliable — but genuinely fun, nurturing, and full of variety.
Our Journey
Smiles of Quorn was founded in 2018 Rachel Marshall alongside her friend and colleague, both with extensive experience in early years and primary education. Since 2021, Rachel has continued to lead Smiles as a family-run business, carrying forward the same care, vision, and passion for quality childcare that launched the setting.
Originally offering only wraparound childcare, Smiles has grown from strength to strength - and in Summer 2023, we proudly launched our first Holiday Club. The success of that launch has helped us expand further, now offering holiday care alongside our established breakfast and after-school provision.
Our Location
Smiles of Quorn is based in the heart of the village, inside the bright and modern facilities at The Deep End, Rawlins. The space has been fully refurbished to provide a safe, welcoming and inspiring environment for children.
Inside, we benefit from a large purpose-built activity hall that allows for both lively group activities and calmer creative sessions. Outside, children can enjoy a wide range of physical play and exploration thanks to our access to an all-weather 3G pitch, ball courts, grassy fields, and a dedicated forest school area with woodland space for den building, nature walks and outdoor learning.
With excellent public transport links and a bus stop right outside, we’re easily accessible to families both in Quorn and from the surrounding areas. While we work closely with our local primary school, St. Bartholomew’s, our Holiday Club is open to children aged 4–12 from any primary school in the region.
We believe that mixing with new children, trying new activities and navigating new environments is all part of the learning journey — and a great way to build confidence, independence, and lasting friendships.
What Makes Our Holiday Club Different?
We know that school holidays should be more than just care, they should be memorable experiences full of exploration, friendship, fun and freedom.
At Smiles of Quorn, we’re not just a holiday club, we’re a place where children feel safe, valued and excited to come each day.
As a family-run, Ofsted-registered setting, we take pride in offering a warm, welcoming environment where every child is known and cared for. Our low child-to-adult ratios mean more attention, better support, and stronger relationships. Our team is highly trained, consistent, and genuinely passionate about working with children.
We operate from a purpose-built venue with spacious indoor areas, an all-weather pitch, and a forest school — giving children room to explore, play, and thrive. We also accept Tax-Free Childcare and Childcare Vouchers, making our provision more accessible to working families.
But most of all, what makes Smiles different is our commitment to variety, freedom, and fun. Variety is at the heart of our vision. We go beyond themed weeks and one-size-fits-all schedules, offering children something new and exciting each day.
Every child is different - and we celebrate that. Following Playwork principles, we balance free choice and independence with a programme of engaging adult-led activities from across our five core themes:

Sports & Movement
From football and cricket to dodgeball, table tennis, obstacle courses and more, we offer a wide range of energetic games to suit every interest and ability — all with an emphasis on teamwork, fun and inclusion.
We’re always evolving our plans based on the voices of the children and the feedback of our families. It’s not just about filling time — it’s about helping children try new things, develop confidence, make friends and build memories.
Who We Are
Smiles of Quorn is a proudly family-run business, led by a small and passionate team who care deeply about creating a safe, welcoming and fun environment for children.
The setting is owned and managed by Rachel, our Managing Director and Ofsted Nominated Person. Rachel brings years of hands-on experience working with children and continues to lead Smiles with the same passion and values it was founded on in 2018. She oversees all aspects of the business, ensuring high standards of care, safeguarding and compliance across both our wraparound and holiday provision.
Our Holiday Club is strategically led by Harvey, Associate Director, who holds responsibility for quality, safeguarding and long-term planning. Harvey helped launch the Holiday Club in 2023 and brings over six years of sector experience, including direct childcare and setting improvement work. He continues to guide our offer behind the scenes and remains a visible presence during the holidays.
Day-to-day leadership of the Holiday Club sits with Lucy, our Head of Holiday Club, who oversees the running of sessions, activity planning, and team coordination. Lucy brings warmth, creativity and a strong focus on child experience. With extensive training in childcare, safeguarding and leadership, and as the national Club Worker of the Year 2024 at the OSCAS, she is the perfect person to lead our team on the ground.
Together, we’re proud to offer a club that feels personal, consistent and full of heart - with a team of dedicated playleaders and playworkers who bring fun, care and creativity to every single day.
Recognition & Standards
While we don’t do this for awards, we are proud that our commitment to quality, safety and care has been recognised along the way. We are Ofsted registered on all three registers, with consistently strong inspection outcomes. Our food hygiene standards have been rated the top score of 5 in every inspection — most recently in June 2024.
In 2022, we were awarded the national SAFE Award in recognition of our excellence in safeguarding practices. More recently, we’ve been delighted to see individual team members celebrated at the Out of School Club Awards (OSCAS) — with Rachel named Manager of the Year in 2023, and Lucy winning Club Worker of the Year in 2024.
These recognitions reflect the genuine care, hard work and passion that go into everything we do — and our continued drive to provide the very best for children and families.
